Booked through us, run across the bay by our partners at Atauro Dive Resort — guided dives across Atauro's reef shelves and drop-offs with the island's resident dive operation. Certified DMs, quality kit, small boats.
An independent island adventure crew on Timor-Leste's coral frontier. Diving and snorkel days on the world's most biodiverse reef. Whales and dolphins on the Cetacean Highway. Ridge hikes, kayak mornings, cultural tours — and we sort the boat ticket from Dili.
We're Mysaffy — a small independent adventure operator on Atauro Island, thirty kilometres and a ferry ride north of Dili. Our patch sits in Beloi, a five-minute walk from the reef and a hundred metres up the coast from the village landing.
In 2016, Conservation International surveyed the waters around Atauro and found the highest fish biodiversity of any reef on the planet. We're at the heart of the Coral Triangle, and the Wetar Strait in front of us is the Cetacean Highway — dolphins year-round, migratory pygmy blue whales October and November. Still mostly empty.
What we do is run the day. Our own English-speaking Timorese guides lead snorkel boats, whale and dolphin tours, ridge hikes up Mount Manucoco, kayak and paddleboard mornings, and cultural walks to the inland villages and the Maquili weavers. Scuba is the one thing we don't run ourselves — we hand divers across the bay to our partners at Atauro Dive Resort, the island's resident dive operation.
One enquiry. One quote. We bundle the activities, sort the boat ticket from Dili, and meet you at the pier.
Construction on our base camp starts May 2026 — we're taking enquiries now for the 2026/2027 season. Until then we run day trips and packages with our own crew. The deck bar opens with the lodge in the 2026/2027 season. Tell us your dates.

One enquiry. One quote. We sort the boat ticket and meet you at the pier — so you arrive on Atauro already in the holiday.
WhatsApp or email with your travel window, group size, and what you're hoping to do. Whales? Hikes? A mix? Doesn't have to be locked in.
Same-day, usually. Bundled — boat ticket from Dili, activities, gear, guides. No surprise fees, no middlemen, no commission games.
Confirm the dates, send your tickets, and our crew is waiting for you at Beloi pier when the ferry comes in.
“Atauro's reefs hold the highest fish biodiversity of any reef on the planet.”

Atauro is year-round. What you'll do depends on the month.
Dry season. Sunny every day, hot. Best for ridge hikes up Mount Manucoco, village tours, and long days on the deck.
Whale season. Dolphins, orca, and migratory pygmy blue whales cross the Wetar Strait. The best operators fill two years ahead.
Wet season. Humidity up, winds drop. Glass-flat seas and the best visibility of the year — prime diving and snorkel.
18 July — Betel Nut Festival at Biqueli. 20 July — Sae Bua cultural ceremony at Makadade. Both on Atauro, both worth planning around.

30km north of Dili by ferry — about 60 minutes on the fast ferry most mornings, 3 hours on the cheap Saturday local ferry, or a private speedboat charter on demand. Every package includes the boat ticket and pickup at the pier.
Year-round, depending on what you want to do. March–October is dry season — best for hiking, village tours, and long deck days. October–November is whale season. December–February brings glass-flat seas and the year's best dive visibility.

For everything else (snorkel, whales, hiking, cultural tours), no certification is needed and our own English-speaking Timorese guides run the day. If you've never snorkelled before, the house reef is a soft entry.
